Knowing

Knowing is part of an ongoing body of work exploring grief, fatherhood, transformation, and the confrontation of self. Created through an intuitive process of layering, glazing, and refinement, the painting emerged without a predetermined image, allowing meaning to reveal itself through the act of making.

The work occupies a space between presence and absence, certainty and mystery. Soft forms surface from darkness before dissolving back into it, inviting contemplation rather than explanation. Rather than offering a fixed narrative, Knowing reflects an experience familiar to many of life’s most significant moments—the recognition of something deeply understood before it can be fully articulated.

As with much of my practice, the work is less concerned with representation than experience. It functions as a psychological and emotional space, inviting viewers into a direct encounter with their own memories, questions, and reflections. In this way, the painting becomes not an answer, but an invitation to sit with what is felt, sensed, and known beyond words.
